"Video shows what a Saudi national filmed before the 9/11 terror attacks — 60 Minutes"
These came from the report of the congressional “Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11” and appeared to implicate Saudi Arabia in the 9/11 “attacks.”
Some in the 9/11 Truth Movement saw this as an opening for a re-investigation of the event, while others saw it as a limited hangout – designed to reinforce the idea that al-Qaeda terrorists were really behind 9/11 as the official story contends.

In June, we got a new chapter in the saga when a video shot in 1999 was unsealed in federal court as part of the legal action by 9/11 family members against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its alleged role in 9/11.
As reported by 60 Minutes, the video was shot by Omar al-Bayoumi, who the FBI alleges was a Saudi intelligence operative with ties to two of the alleged 9/11 hijackers. In the video, he shows the U.S. Capitol building and takes note of various entrances. He points to the Washington Monument, which he says he will investigate further and “report to you in detail what is there.” He also notes the proximity of the airport and refers in the video to a “plan.”
We’re told that the video was found in al-Bayoumi’s UK apartment by British police in the days after 9/11. It was supposedly turned over to the FBI around that time. Also allegedly found was an address book that we’re told contained the names of numerous Saudi government officials.
60 Minutes quotes retired FBI agent Richard Lambert – who is currently serving as a consultant to the families in their legal case – as saying that there is considerable evidence that al-Qaeda was complicit in the “attacks” and that al-Bayoumi may have been scouting a possible target for one of the flights.
“It is another very large brick in a massive wall of evidence that, at this point, indicates that the Saudi government was complicit in the 9/11 attacks,” Lambert says.
The Saudi government and al-Bayoumi deny any involvement in 9/11.
The assertion that Saudi Arabia was complicit – and the media willingness to consider the question – has important implications for the 9/11 Truth Movement. On one hand it appears to be an acknowledgement that we haven’t been told the truth about the event and that more investigation is needed. But on the other it reinforces the official claim that al-Qaeda was primarily responsible for carrying out the plot and that the planes involved in 9/11 were really hijacked.
In 2015, Michel Chossudovsky of Global Research warned of the possible agenda in implicating Saudi Arabia:
“Calling for the official release and publication of the 28-page classified section of the joint inquiry report pertaining to Saudi Arabia is an obvious red-herring. The objective is to confuse matters, create divisions within the 9/11 Truth Movement and ultimately dispel the fact that the 9/11 attacks were a carefully organized false flag event which was used to declare war on Afghanistan as well as usher in sweeping anti-terrorist legislation.”
He added this:
“The objective of the Saudi connection propaganda ploy is to ultimately sustain the official narrative which states that Islamic terrorists were behind the 9/11 attacks, which has been disproved by Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth.”
The appearance of this 23-year-old video is just the latest recent incidence of 9/11 getting serious media attention. In recent months, several news commentators and podcasters – including Tucker Carlson, Jimmy Dore, Candace Owens, and Russell Brand – have begun to openly question whether we’ve been told the truth about 9/11, particularly where World Trade Center Building 7 is concerned. Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has declined to take any position on 9/11, but he has promised to “open the files” if elected.
Oral arguments in the legal case by the 9/11 families are scheduled for later this summer.
